Tawa Chicken | Tawa Chicken Masala |

Tawa Chicken is a dish generally cooked on roadside dhabas on big tawas. Cooking the chicken in the Tawa gives a unique taste wherein the chicken is kind of roasted with the masala sticking all over. This way chicken gets coated with the yummy masala making it delicious.

You can prepare it the same way at home too. I do the whole cooking process over the Tawa. I would recommend cooking it with boneless chicken. If you have a thick-bottomed Tawa at home, you can easily make this spicy chicken dish with the right recipe.

Marinated boneless Chicken Pieces are cooked with homemade Tawa Masala Powder. Chicken is roasted and coated with full-of-spices onion-tomato masala, all done on Tawa. Local eateries and dhabas use a large thick iron griddle to make the this recipe. This Recipe just like any other street food, Tawa chicken masala is tremendous in flavours and spiciness. For Chicken Marination Ingredients:

  • 500 grams Boneless Thigh Chicken
  • 1 tsp Ginger Paste
  • 1 tsp Garlic Paste
  • Salt to taste

Other Ingredients :

  • 4 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Garlic
  • 2 Small Chopped Onion
  • 2 Chopped Green Chilies
  • 1 Big Chopped Tomato
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 4 tbsp Prepared Tawa Masala Powder (Visit My Masala Post)
  • 1 tbsp Curd
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 2 tbsp Chopped Coriander Leaves

Chicken Marination

Marinate boneless chicken with ginger, garlic paste and salt. mix well, marinate the chicken for at least 15 minutes.

In a Tawa add oil, heat oil add chopped ginger, onion and green chilies and sauté it well. Now add chopped tomato and mix well.

Make the Chicken

Then add red chili powder and turmeric powder mix it well and sauté for a minute.

Now add marinated chicken and sauté it on high flame. Then add curd and mix it well.

Now add prepared Tawa masala and cook on high flame.

Cover and cook for chicken 10 minutes. Now add butter and coriander leaves and mix it well.

Serve hot with laccha paratha, Roti or Naan.
