Masaledar Dahi Bhindi

Masaledar Dahi Bhindi is a simple recipe in which lady’s finger/okra/bhindi is cooked in a dahi/yogurt/curd- onion based gravy. You can also serve with rotis or paratha. Full of taste and flavor.

For Bhindi Shallow Fry :

  • Lady’s Finger/Bhindi/Okra – 250 Gms
  • 4 tbsp Oil

Lady’s finger completely dry before cutting them.
Cut the lady’s finger to around 2 inch pieces.
Heat oil in a wok(kadai) and shallow fry the bhindi(okra) on medium heat.

Remove from kadai and keep aside.

For Dahi Masala :

  • 1 inch Cinnamon stick
  • 2 pods Green Cardamom
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds(Jeera)
  • 2 nos Whole Red Chilli
  • 1 medium Onion(chopped)
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • ½ tsp Cumin Powder
  • ½ cup Curd(whisked)
  • ¼ tsp Garam Masala
  • 1 tsp Kasuri Methi
  • 1tbsp Fresh coriander leaves(chopped)
  • Salt to Taste

Use the same used oil for masala.
Add Cinnamon stick, Green Cardamom, Cumin Seeds & Whole Red Chilli sauté turns aromatic.
Add chopped onions, fry until they are translucent.
Add ginger garlic paste and sauté for 1-2 mins.

Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder & cumin powder.
Add some water mix well
Add curd, stir continuously on low flame.
Add salt as required, cook until oil is separated.

Add fried Bhindi(okra), cook further 4-5 minutes
Add Garam Masala
Add Kasuri Methi, cook further 1-2 minutes
Add fresh coriander leaves.

Masaledar dahi bhindi is ready, serve hot with rotis or paratha.
